Tennessee/ North Carolina + Family: A Recap

When your MIL wins a week long stay in a rather large cabin in the Great Smoky Mountains, you catch a flight to Tennessee. We had a fabulous week filled with hiking, playing games, exploring, and enjoying family time. There was a ton of waterfalls, gorgeous views, good food, and lots of wildlife. We even had a bear come visit our back porch! That was quite the breakfast visitor! We visited Dollywood, Clingman’s Dome, Cataract Falls, Cade’s Cove, Gatlinburg, Laurel Falls, Tuckaleechee Caverns, and many local shops.

Hike to Clingman’s Dome. It was uphill and high altitude, which meant I was more than winded.

It was too foggy to see much, but was still a cool experience!

Garrett’s time at the cabin was cut short as he had to catch a flight back to Lincoln to catch another flight to Brazil for school. While he was in Brazil, I caught a ride back with the Sees for a week with my folks. On the way home, we picked up a new family member: Lincoln the Golden Retriever! He is one big fluff ball!

There was a few things that I requested while being home in NC: a trip to the beach, Brightleaf hot dogs, a meal on the grill, and to play with all the lambs. I was spoiled and got to do it all! Grandma also took me on a shopping trip!

Don’t be fooled, I didn’t just get some R&R. I also worked. We sheared over 15 sheep in one day in some very hot weather. We were all tuckered out! In addition to shearing, shopping, and being spoiled, the week was also filled with board games with the boys, a visit to Alec’s new house, very late nights talking and watching movies with Mom, and eating Sunday dinner after church. After 5 months from seeing home (the longest I’ve ever gone) it did my heart so good to be able to spend time with everyone, and I can’t wait until next time!
